Can someone own a land without a title if they are living on it for more than 30 years?

Someone told us they owned the land without even showing us ownership documentation, and as far as I know land at this place is not titled as it is owned by UP. and tried to kick us out and worst demolished our house during the pandemic as we got lock down in the province. They even installed our electricity and water on their building without notifying us, they just offered us a room to live in and now threatening us that they will lock our place anytime.
