What are the rights of a land caretaker living there For 40 years?

My grandparents have been the caretakers of the land For 40 years. The original Owner was nice and they didn't want them to leave. So when the original Owner passed away, these half-siblings of them were territorial. We Just added a restroom For us to be comfortable and now they send a summons to My grandma. What is the best thing we Can do?
