You can either set up a company to own the land, where you are a director and shareholder of said company, or you can have a long-term lease for the property from your future brother-in-law to you. Yes, you can own the house, but without having something else set up so that you have some sort of legal arrangement to access and use the land, you would not be 100% protected.
