How do I register a private limited company in Zimbabwe if one director lives outside the country?

I’m starting a small trading business and want a private limited company for credibility. One proposed director is based in South Africa and can’t travel often. Can they still be appointed, and what documents or local address requirements apply?

Hi.

Yes—you can appoint a South‑African resident as a director of a UK private‑limited company (Ltd); UK law does not require directors to be UK‑resident or to travel to the UK, but the company must have a registered office address in England or Wales (which can be a formation‑agent address or a virtual office) and each director must provide a service address (which may be the same UK address) and a usual residential address for the public register. To complete the appointment you’ll need the director’s full name, date of birth, nationality, a copy of a valid passport (or national ID), proof of residential address (utility bill or bank statement dated within the last three months), and a signed director‑consent form confirming they agree to act and that they are not disqualified. The director’s details, along with the company’s beneficial‑owner information, are filed electronically with Companies House, after which the director can fulfil duties remotely (signing documents electronically, attending video‑conference board meetings, etc.) without needing to be physically present in the UK.
