Frequently Asked Questions — Seekers
Finding a Lawyer#
Is Lawzana free to use? Yes. Searching the directory, browsing profiles, reading articles, posting questions, and submitting inquiries is completely free for people looking for legal help.
How do I know which lawyer is right for me? Read firm profiles, check reviews and ratings, verify they handle your type of legal matter, and consider their location. You can submit inquiries to multiple firms and compare responses before deciding.
Can I search for lawyers in my language? Lawzana is available in multiple languages. Many firm profiles include multilingual content, and you can browse the directory in your preferred language where available.
What practice areas are available? Lawzana covers dozens of practice areas including Family Law, Real Estate, Criminal Law, Corporate Law, Employment Law, Immigration, Personal Injury, Estate & Probate, Intellectual Property, Tax Law, and many more.
What countries does Lawzana cover? Lawzana has lawyers listed across multiple countries. Use the Browse page to see which countries have listings, or search by your specific location.
Inquiries & Contact#
What happens when I submit an inquiry? Your inquiry is reviewed for quality, then distributed to qualified law firms that match your practice area and location. Firms that can help will contact you directly.
How long does it take to hear back from a lawyer? Response times vary, but most firms respond within 1–3 business days. If your matter is urgent, select "Urgent" as the urgency level to flag it for faster attention.
Can I contact a specific firm directly? Yes. Use the Send Message button on a firm's profile or office page to send a direct message to that specific firm.
Will I be charged for submitting an inquiry? No. Lawzana never charges seekers for submitting inquiries or contacting lawyers.
Can I cancel or withdraw my inquiry? You can mark your inquiry as resolved using the link in your confirmation email. This signals to firms that you no longer need assistance.
Why was I asked additional questions after submitting my inquiry? In some cases, our quality review process identifies that additional details would help match you with the best firms. Answering these questions improves the responses you receive.
Q&A#
Do I need an account to ask a question? You need to provide your email address so we can notify you when lawyers respond, but you don't need to create a separate account.
How long before my question gets answered? Questions are first reviewed by our team, then published for lawyers to answer. Response times depend on the topic and location, but most published questions receive an answer within a few days.
Can I ask follow-up questions? The Q&A system is designed for individual questions rather than ongoing conversations. If you need in-depth advice, we recommend contacting a lawyer directly through their profile.
Are the answers on Q&A legal advice? No. Q&A answers provide general legal information and guidance. They do not create an attorney-client relationship and should not be relied upon as personalized legal advice. Always consult a lawyer directly for advice specific to your situation.
Reviews#
Can I review any firm on Lawzana? You can submit a review for any firm listed on Lawzana, but reviews should reflect a genuine experience with that firm's legal services.
Can I post a review anonymously? Yes. When submitting your review, you can choose to display it as "Anonymous" instead of your first name.
Can a firm remove my negative review? No. Lawzana does not remove reviews simply because a firm disagrees with them. Reviews are only removed if they violate our content guidelines (e.g., spam, offensive content, or clearly fake reviews).
Can I edit my review after submitting it? Reviews cannot be edited after submission. If you need to correct something, contact Lawzana support.
Privacy & Security#
Is my personal information safe? Yes. We share your inquiry details only with the law firms that match your request. Your information is never sold to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can lawyers see my email and phone number? Yes, when you submit an inquiry or direct message, the receiving firm can see the contact details you provided so they can get in touch with you.
How do I delete my account? Contact us through the Contact Us page to request account deletion. We will process your request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
