Contacting a Lawyer
Once you've found a lawyer or firm that looks right for your needs, Lawzana offers two ways to get in touch: submitting an inquiry or sending a direct message.
Submitting an Inquiry#
Inquiries are the main way to connect with lawyers on Lawzana. When you submit an inquiry, it's sent to multiple qualified firms in your area so you can get responses quickly.
How to Submit an Inquiry#
- Click the Get Legal Help button (available on firm profiles, directory pages, and article pages)
- Fill in the inquiry form:
- First name and Last name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Practice area — Select the type of legal help you need
- Location — Enter your city or region
- Describe your situation — Write at least 50 characters explaining what you need help with
- Urgency — How quickly you need assistance
- Budget — Your estimated budget for legal services
- Click Submit
What Happens After You Submit#
- Quality check — Your inquiry goes through a brief quality review to ensure it reaches the right firms
- Distribution — Your inquiry is shared with qualified law firms that match your practice area and location
- Response — Firms that are interested will contact you directly via email or phone
- You choose — Compare responses and choose the lawyer that fits best
Additional Questions#
In some cases, you may be asked a few follow-up questions after submitting your inquiry. This helps ensure your request is clear and gets matched with the most suitable firms.
Sending a Direct Message#
If you've found a specific firm or office you'd like to contact, you can send them a direct message.
How to Send a Direct Message#
- Go to the firm's profile page or office page
- Click the Contact or Send Message button
- Fill in the message form:
- First name and Last name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Subject (optional)
- Your message — At least 50 characters describing your needs
- Urgency — How quickly you need help
- Budget — Your estimated budget
- Click Send
Direct messages go straight to the specific office you've selected, rather than being distributed across multiple firms.
Tracking Your Inquiries#
After submitting an inquiry, you'll receive a confirmation email. You can:
- View your inquiry by clicking the link in the confirmation email
- Mark your inquiry as resolved once you've found a lawyer or no longer need assistance
Tips for Getting Better Responses#
- Be specific — Describe your situation clearly so lawyers can assess whether they can help
- Include a timeline — Let lawyers know if your matter is urgent
- Provide contact details — Make sure your phone number and email are correct so firms can reach you
- Respond promptly — When a lawyer contacts you, responding quickly shows you're serious about getting help
- Ask questions — Don't hesitate to ask about fees, experience, and process during initial consultations
