Extradition of Libyan General
Last Updated: Mar 14, 2025

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has given Italy a deadline of March 17, 2025, to explain its failure to extradite Libyan general Osama Najim al-Masri. Al-Masri is wanted by the ICC on charges of crimes against humanity. He is accused of involvement in the mistreatment of migrants while serving in Libya, highlighting the ICC's focus on accountability for serious human rights violations, even across international borders, and even by foreign powers.
