Frequently Asked Questions — Lawyers
Getting Started#
How long does it take to get my firm listed? After completing your profile and requesting publishing, a Lawzana moderator reviews your profile. This typically takes 1–2 business days. You'll be notified by email when your firm goes live.
Do I need a paid plan to appear in the directory? No. The Free plan includes a basic directory listing. However, paid plans offer significantly higher visibility, priority ranking, and lead credits for claiming potential clients.
Can I have multiple offices listed? Yes. You can add as many office locations as you need. Each office gets its own profile page and can have different practice areas, team members, and contact details.
Can multiple people at my firm access the dashboard? Yes. The primary account holder can invite additional team members to join the firm's dashboard. Each team member gets their own login credentials.
Profile and Visibility#
How do I improve my search ranking? Several factors influence your ranking:
- Upgrade your plan — Paid plans receive ranking bonuses in directory results
- Complete your profile — Firms with complete profiles rank higher
- Get reviews — Positive reviews boost your credibility
- Add content — Detailed practice area descriptions and case results improve relevance
- Answer Q&A questions — Active engagement signals expertise
Why can't I see my firm in search results? Make sure your firm status is Live (not Draft or Pending). Check that you have at least one office with practice areas defined that match the search criteria. If you just went live, it may take a short time for search indexes to update.
Can I have my profile in multiple languages? Yes. Many fields support multilingual content. Use the language selector while editing to add translations. You can also use the AI Translation Wizard for bulk translation of your profile content.
How do I get the Verified Badge? Ensure your firm is live on the platform, then click Request Badge on your dashboard. Your request will be reviewed by the Lawzana team.
Leads and Inquiries#
How does lead distribution work? When someone submits an inquiry on Lawzana, it's matched with firms based on practice area and location. Matching firms see the lead in their inbox. To access the lead's contact details, you need to claim it using a lead credit.
What's the difference between a lead and a message?
- Leads are distributed to multiple matching firms — you need to claim them with a credit
- Messages are direct inquiries sent specifically to your firm or office — no credit needed
What happens if I run out of lead credits? You won't be able to claim new leads until your quota resets (on your renewal date) or you purchase additional credits. Direct messages are not affected — you can always receive and respond to those.
Can I get a refund on a claimed lead? Lead claims are generally non-refundable. Review the inquiry details carefully before claiming. If you believe a lead was fraudulent or clearly spam, contact Lawzana support.
Why are some leads marked as low quality? Lawzana uses an automated quality assessment system that evaluates leads based on message detail, contact information, and other signals. Low-quality scores may indicate vague inquiries or potential spam. Use the quality score to prioritize your time.
Q&A#
Do I have to answer questions to use Lawzana? No, answering Q&A questions is optional. However, it's a highly effective way to build visibility and demonstrate expertise, and it's free on all plans.
Will my firm's name appear on my answers? Yes. Published answers display your name and firm name with a link to your profile.
How long does it take for answers to be published? Answers go through a moderation review before being published. This typically takes 1–2 business days.
Reviews#
Can I remove a negative review? No. Lawzana does not remove reviews based on disagreement with the content. Reviews are only removed for clear violations of content guidelines (spam, fake reviews, offensive content). The best strategy for managing negative reviews is to respond professionally.
How do I get more reviews? Use the Share button in the Reviews section to get your unique review collection link. Share this link with clients after completing their cases.
Do I get notified when I receive a review? Yes. Review alerts appear on your dashboard and you'll be notified of new reviews.
Billing#
Can I upgrade or downgrade at any time? Yes. You can change your plan at any time through the billing portal. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.
Do annual plans auto-renew? Yes. Unless you cancel before the renewal date, your subscription renews automatically.
Can I get a refund? Please contact Lawzana support for refund requests. Billing is handled through Stripe.
