AI Features

Lawzana Flow uses AI to help you analyze documents, research legal questions, and draft documents faster. All AI operations are powered by Google's Gemini models through Vertex AI.

Document-Level AI#

These features are available for any document with extracted text.

AI Summary#

Generate a concise overview of any document with one click.

  1. Open a document
  2. Click Generate Summary
  3. The AI produces a structured summary covering key points, parties involved, and main terms
  4. Click Regenerate if you'd like a fresh summary

AI credits used: 1 credit per summary

Key Facts Extraction#

Automatically extract structured information from documents.

  1. Open a document and go to the Facts section
  2. Click Extract Facts
  3. Facts are organized by category:
Category What It Extracts
Dates Event dates with descriptions (e.g., "Effective date: January 15, 2026")
Names People, roles, and organizations with source citations
Claims Key allegations, statements, or assertions
Locations Relevant places mentioned in the document
Amounts Monetary figures with context (e.g., "$50,000 annual retainer")

AI credits used: 1 credit per extraction

Document Chat#

Have a conversation with your document to ask specific questions.

  1. Open a document and go to the Chat tab
  2. Type a question about the document's content
  3. The AI responds with answers and citations showing exactly where the information comes from
  4. Citation format: [Page #] [Section] "relevant quote"
  5. Continue asking follow-up questions in the same thread

AI credits used: 1 credit per message

Gap Analysis#

Identify missing provisions or clauses in contracts and agreements.

  1. Open a contract document
  2. Go to the Gap Analysis section
  3. Click Run Gap Analysis
  4. Results are categorized by severity:
Severity Meaning
Critical Major missing terms that could create significant legal risk
Important Provisions that should be present in a well-drafted agreement
Recommended Best practice items that strengthen the document
Optional Nice-to-have provisions for additional protection

Each gap includes an explanation of what's missing and why it matters.

AI credits used: 1 credit per analysis

Deviation Detection#

Compare a document against your firm's standard policies and templates.

  1. Open a document
  2. Go to the Deviations section
  3. Click Detect Deviations
  4. Results show where the document differs from standard terms:
Severity Meaning
Critical Potential deal breaker — requires immediate attention
Major Significant deviation requiring senior approval
Minor Acceptable with proper documentation
Acceptable Within tolerance — no action needed

Each deviation includes:

  • What deviates from the standard
  • Risk assessment
  • Recommended action

AI credits used: 1 credit per analysis

Playbook Analysis#

Run structured analysis checklists against specific document types.

Available playbooks include:

  • Lease Agreement — Checks for standard lease terms, obligations, and protections
  • NDA / Confidentiality — Reviews scope, duration, exclusions, and remedies
  • Employment Agreement — Analyzes compensation, benefits, restrictions, and termination
  • Loan Agreement — Evaluates interest, repayment, covenants, and defaults

Each playbook produces a checklist of items with pass/fail/concern status.

Matter-Level AI#

Matter Chat#

Ask questions across all documents in a matter simultaneously.

  1. Open a matter and go to the AI tab
  2. Type your question
  3. The AI searches all documents in the matter and provides a comprehensive answer
  4. Useful for cross-document analysis, identifying contradictions, or getting a full picture

AI credits used: 2 credits per message

AI Assistant#

A standalone AI chat for legal research and general questions.

  1. Go to Assistant in the sidebar
  2. Ask legal research questions, request analysis, or explore topics
  3. The assistant can help with:
    • Legal research and analysis
    • Summarizing legal concepts
    • Drafting memos and briefs
    • Answering procedural questions

AI credits used: 2 credits per message

AI in Drafting#

  • Ghost Text — AI auto-completion while typing
  • AI Edit — Select text and ask AI to improve, simplify, or expand it
  • Full Document Edit — Ask AI to revise the entire document with tracked changes
  • AI Generation — Create entire documents from a prompt

AI Credits#

Every AI operation uses credits from your monthly quota. See Billing & Plans for details on credit allocations and costs.

Data Privacy#

  • Your documents and data are never used to train AI models
  • All AI operations follow a Zero Data Retention policy
  • Your primary application data is stored in your selected region (US, EU, or APAC)
  • AI requests are handled through Google Vertex AI; contact support if you have region-specific compliance requirements for AI processing
