Specialists in Family Law and Immigration Law
Franssen Advocaten was founded on December 1, 2013 as a niche law firm that is exclusively involved in (international) family law and immigration law. We mainly advise foreign clients (such as expats) and assist them in legal proceedings. Thanks to our many years of experience, we can advise our clients properly and expertly on how they can legally reside in the Netherlands - even after a divorce - and we are experts in assisting them with an (international) divorce, a move abroad with children or alimony. Divorce through mediation is certainly recommended if children are involved. After all, even after the divorce, the ex-partners remain connected as parents and long-term agreements about their children are essential.
The lawyers at our office are experts and are affiliated with various specialization associations, such as the Association for Family Law Lawyers and Divorce Mediators (vFAS) and the Specialist Association for Migration Law Lawyers (SVMA).

We think it is important that citizens are entitled to proper legal protection against the powerful government, such as the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Especially when fundamental human rights, such as the right to exercise family life and the right of the child to be cared for and raised by both parents, are threatened. The restrictive national immigration law (particularly in the field of family reunification) may in some cases conflict with treaties, such as the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), the International Convention on the Child (CRC) and European directives, such as the family reunification directive (2003/86/EC).
